Music

There is a very high standard of music at St. Andrew’s and the facilities reflect the importance the School places on mthis subject as a valuable part of the curriculum. There are six music rooms, two of which are general teaching rooms with keyboards, instruments, manuscript boards and computers. The remaining four rooms are used for instrumental lessons given by the peripatetic teachers. They offer a wide variety of instrument tuition including piano, violin, cello, flute, oboe, trumpet, clarinet, saxophone, guitar, cornet and percussion.

All children from Nursery onwards are taught singing each week and every pupil from Year 3 to Year 6 learn to play the recorder and read music in class. There are flourishing ensemble groups, choirs and an orchestra who have many opportunities to perform to the school, publicly and in competition.
